The Challenge

Struggling to run her own ads and then a lightbulb moment...

Xan had built BENA from the ground up and was running her own Facebook Ads. In early 2020, she attended a one-day Facebook ads workshop Leigh was running to sharpen her skills.

But after that workshop, a lightbulb went off: perhaps I should just get Alphabet to manage my ads for me so I can focus on other areas of growing my business. So she handed the ads over, in March 2020, right as the world shut its doors, and the rest is history.

The Approach

We found the hero product, and built everything around it.

The timing turned out to be perfect. With everyone suddenly living, working and lounging at home, demand for beautiful loungewear surged, and BENA was positioned exactly right to meet it.

We put a stronger ad strategy in place, led with founder-led creative, she lifted the production quality of her shoots and added more short-form video to the creative mix. We also leaned into more brand storytelling and engaging 'behind the brand' content.

That's what good marketing is supposed to do. Grow the business, not just the social media metrics.

And we found her hero: the travel track set. Rather than spreading thin across general loungewear, we leaned hard into the one product and built the scaling strategy around it. Six years and a growing product range later, the travel track set is still the hero.

The Results

Not just a lockdown story but continued success year on year.

In six years with us, BENA's revenue grew over 600%, a seven-fold increase, proving that this was not just a lockdown opportunity growth story.

Her growth kept compounding long after the world reopened: revenue is up another 47% since 2021, and March, April and May of 2026 rank among the four best months in the brand's entire history. It's now one of our longest-standing partnerships, and still growing.

I sat in a workshop, learned how to do better ads, and very quickly realised I was never going to do a good job of it myself. I asked Leigh the next day to take it over. We've never looked back.
